Punjab Livestock Program Phase 2 – A New Hope for Widows and Divorced Women
The Government of Punjab has launched the Punjab Livestock Program Phase 2, a powerful initiative aimed at helping widows and divorced women in South Punjab. This program is 100% free of cost and offers an opportunity for women to earn a permanent income by receiving cows, buffaloes, and goats.
This program is part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s efforts to empower women, reduce poverty, and improve rural livelihoods. After the success of Phase 1, Phase 2 is expected to bring benefits to thousands of women across 12 districts of South Punjab.
Purpose of the Program
The main aim of this program is to support widows and divorced women by giving them livestock that they can raise for milk, meat, and breeding purposes. This helps in generating a stable source of income and promotes financial independence for women living in rural areas.
The Punjab Government has set aside a budget of PKR 2.5 billion for this project, ensuring that beneficiaries also receive care kits, veterinary services, training, and support.
